We were thrilled to recently be featured in a wonderful article by The Rapidian that shines a spotlight on the mission and heart behind West Michigan Therapy Dogs. It’s always a joy to share what we do and more importantly, why we do it with the community we love.
The story takes readers back to our early days, when our founders, Terrilynne Lymburner and Jeanne Lewis, first saw the incredible connection that happens when a therapy dog walks into a room. From those first steps in 2001 to the hundreds of certified volunteer teams serving today, the article beautifully captures how WMTD has grown while staying true to our mission: bringing comfort, smiles, and hope one wag at a time.
We had so much fun reflecting on our journey and celebrating the volunteers, our therapy dogs, and facility partners who make this work possible. Whether it’s a child building confidence while reading to a furry friend, a patient finding comfort during recovery, or a senior feeling a spark of joy during a visit these moments remind us that the human–animal bond is truly life-changing.
We’re grateful to The Rapidian for telling our story so thoughtfully, and we invite you to read the full article here: One Wag at a Time – The Rapidian.
Here’s to many more years and many more wags of making a difference together.
